📍Harder Kulm is a viewpoint above Interlaken in Switzerland. From the top, you’ll see both Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, and the surrounding Bernese Alps.
How to Get There:
👉🏻 Go to Interlaken Ost railway station. From there, walk about 5 minutes across the Aare River to the valley station of the funicular.
👉🏻Take the funicular (Harderbahn) up to the summit. The ride takes about 10-15 minutes.
👉🏻Alternatively, for the more adventurous: there’s a hiking trail from Interlaken up to Harder Kulm - takes about 2-3 hours, with a steep climb.
Ticket Prices & Discounts:
👉🏻A regular adult return ticket on the funicular is around CHF 38 (about €35) in 2025.
👉🏻 If you hold a Swiss Travel Pass or Swiss Half Fare Card, you get a 50 % discount, so around CHF 19-22.
👉🏻 Season: The funicular runs from mid-April to late November (exact dates vary), so check ahead.
👉🏻 The funicular departs every 30 minutes during operating hours.

Even though I’ve been to Switzerland many times, I’ve mostly explored the German-speaking side. We planned to see Ticino this trip (the Italian region!), but the weather wasn’t cooperating 😅 so we went to Aare Gorge instead — and wow… Switzerland really has no bad angles. 🏔✨
And yes, I somehow ended up in Interlaken again 😅 I never expected it to become so familiar to me, but life brings you to unexpected destinations for beautiful reasons.
Switzerland is unbelievably stunning — from the lakes to the mountains to the villages — and yes, it can be pricey. But the priceless part is the laughter, reunions, memories, and friendships that keep bringing me back. A place is beautiful, but it’s the people who make it meaningful. 🫶
