¿Qué es Balmers Hostel?
Balmers Hostel es el albergue privado más antiguo de Suiza, ambientado en tres encantadores chalets suizos rodeados de picos de montaña que esperan ser explorados. Es un lugar social relajado donde los viajeros pueden conectarse, relajarse y disfrutar de un ambiente juguetón y único en su tipo.
Ah, y antes de olvidar, organizamos una fiesta o dos, especialmente en la temporada alta.
¿Para quién es Balmers Hostel?
Balmers Hostel es para viajeros de mente abierta y tranquilos mayores de 18 años que buscan algo más que un lugar para dormir. Ya sea que esté aquí para explorar los Alpes suizos, conocer personas de todo el mundo con ideas afines o simplemente relajarse y disfrutar del ambiente, Balmers es su hogar lejos del hogar. Damos la bienvenida a viajeros solitarios, grupos de hasta 10 personas y a cualquier persona con sentido de la aventura y respeto por los demás.

Interlaken was hands down one of the most beautiful places I’ve been! We explored, we ate, we jumped out of planes, we consumed lots of chocolate & fondue!!! Bigggg shoutout to Eric, my Skydive buddy, the man who drove our horse & buggy, The Balmers, every breakfast spot we tried, and my best friends for such a great weekend!!!! We WILL be back for another retreat!!!

Una caminata invernal que parece sacada de una postal.
🥾 Kandersteg → Oeschinensee
• 9 km ida y vuelta
• 500 m de desnivel positivo
• Raquetas de nieve o crampones, según las condiciones de la nieve y el hielo
En invierno, el famoso sendero panorámico está cerrado
(reapertura en junio de 2026).
Aún así, el viaje hasta el lago vale la pena: agua helada, bosques silenciosos y vistas alpinas en todas direcciones.

Fun fact about **Balmers Hostel**:
It all started back in **1907**, when Frida and Adolf Balmer opened a small *Touristenheim* for travellers. By the 1950s, they were already hosting British school groups, so you could say the hostel spirit here has been going strong for quite some time.
In the 70s, the second generation expanded it from a modest 50 beds to one of the most iconic hostels in Switzerland.
Today, the third generation is still running the show.
So yes… when you stay at Balmers, you’re not just booking a bed, you’re joining over a century of travellers passing through Interlaken.

My favourite trip to date! 🇨🇭 The trip I dreamed about for years, and I finally made it happen, all on my own. ✈️
Viajar sola fue algo que nunca pensé que tendría el coraje de hacer. Como alguien que siempre está rodeado de gente, salir de mi zona de confort fue aterrador... pero era exactamente lo que necesitaba. Quería desafiarme a mí mismo, crecer, demostrar que podía hacer cosas por mí y por mí mismo.
Los primeros días fueron aterradores, perderme, tomar el tren equivocado, descubrir cosas en un país nuevo con un idioma nuevo, pero honestamente, eso es lo que lo hizo tan hermoso. Los errores, las risas, los pequeños momentos de “guau, hice eso”.
Tuve la suerte de ver a un amigo cercano en Alemania y luego partir por mi cuenta. Me sentí como si yo contra el mundo... pero el mundo se presentó ante mí de la mejor manera posible. Conocí a la gente más increíble en Balmoral, Interlaken, todos viajeros solitarios que se convirtieron en amigos para toda la vida. Ampliamos nuestras estadías, compartimos historias y creamos recuerdos que nunca olvidaré. 💫

❄️ Una de las experiencias invernales más especiales que puedes vivir en Suiza: ¡caminar sobre el helado Oeschinensee! 🇨🇭
En invierno, cuando las condiciones lo permiten, tienen un paseo marcado por el hielo en el lago. Ya está abierto, así que es hora de hacer una excursión de un día.
Para llegar al lago, diríjase a Kandersteg, suba en góndola y luego siga el sendero nevado acondicionado hasta la orilla del lago, aproximadamente 30 minutos.
Siempre revisa la señal de seguridad en el lago antes de pisar el hielo. Luego disfrute de un paseo sobre el hielo, manteniéndose dentro de los límites marcados, en un circuito de aproximadamente 1 km.
⚠️ Conditions can change quickly, so always check the trail status online and info boards before heading out. They regularly check ice stability and close the ice walk if necessary.
