Wir haben uns entschieden, nicht auf jede einzelne Bewertung individuell zu antworten. Stattdessen konzentrieren wir unsere Zeit und Energie darauf, die Abläufe hier im Hostel tatsächlich zu verbessern.
Wir wissen, dass die Menschen heutzutage oft erwarten, dass Unternehmen auf jede Bewertung antworten – teils um zu zeigen, dass ihnen etwas am Herzen liegt, teils um die Sichtbarkeit im Internet zu erhöhen. Und es liegt uns sehr am Herzen. Aber auf jeden einzelnen Kommentar zu antworten, nur so, dass es so aussieht, als ob es uns wichtig wäre, fühlt sich für uns unecht an. Wir sind ein sehr menschlicher Haufen und lieben es, auf echte Weise Kontakte zu knüpfen. Wir bleiben lieber real, als Bewertungen zu einer Checkbox-Übung zu machen.
Wir wissen auch, dass Bewertungen sehr persönlich und subjektiv sind. Bitte behalte das im Hinterkopf und nutze die Informationen, die dir bei der Entscheidung helfen, ob das Balmers der richtige Ort für deinen Aufenthalt ist.
Eine persönliche Anmerkung: Eine negative Bewertung zu erhalten, vor allem wenn sie auf mangelnder Kommunikation beruht, kann wirklich entmutigend sein. Unser Team ist immer vor Ort und steht für ein persönliches Gespräch zur Verfügung. Du kannst uns auch per E-Mail, Telefon oder WhatsApp erreichen, falls während deines Aufenthalts etwas nicht in Ordnung sein sollte. Wir versuchen viel lieber, Probleme sofort zu lösen, als später davon zu lesen, wenn es für Hilfe bereits zu spät ist.
Uns allen hier bei Balmers liegt unsere Arbeit wirklich am Herzen. Wir möchten, dass Ihre Zeit bei uns zu den „schönen, tollen, unvergesslichen“ Erinnerungen gehört, die du mit nach Hause nimmst.

Willkommen bei Balmers! Zum ersten Mal hier?
Wir freuen uns riesig, dass du da bist! Damit dein Aufenthalt – und der aller anderen – so toll wie möglich wird, solltest du Folgendes beachten:

Respektiere andere und ihre Sachen.
- Unterhalte dich bitte in Zimmerlautstärke nach 22 Uhr- Einige Legenden schlafen gerne.

Check-out ist um 10 Uhr. Bitte bring deinen Bettlaken, Bettbezug und Kissenbezug zur Rezeption (die Decke und das Kissen kannst du auf dem Bett lassen).

Gib alles zurück, was du ausgeliehen hast – zum Beispiel Zimmerschlüssel oder Adapter.

Bitte schaltet das Licht aus und stellt die Ventilatoren ab, wenn ihr das Zimmer verlasst!
Ein paar No-Go`s:

Rauchen in den Zimmern ist verboten- auch mit geöffnetem Fenster.

Kein kochen ausserhalb der Gästeküche.

Lass die Fenster geschlossen wenn die Heizung an ist.

Was ist das Balmers Hostel?
Das Balmers Hostel ist die älteste privat geführte Jugendherberge der Schweiz und befindet sich in drei charmanten Schweizer Chalets, umgeben von Berggipfeln, die nur darauf warten, erkundet zu werden. Es ist ein entspannter, geselliger Ort, an dem Reisende Kontakte knüpfen, sich erholen und eine ausgelassene, einzigartige Atmosphäre genießen können.
Oh, und bevor wir es vergessen: in der Hochsaison veranstalten wir auch die ein oder andere Party.
Für wen ist das Balmers Hostel?
Das Balmers Hostel richtet sich an aufgeschlossene und unkomplizierte Reisende ab 18 Jahren, die mehr als nur eine Übernachtungsmöglichkeit suchen. Ganz gleich, ob du hier bist, um die Schweizer Alpen zu erkunden, Gleichgesinnte aus aller Welt kennenzulernen oder einfach nur zu entspannen und die Atmosphäre zu genießen – im Balmers fühlst du dich wie zu Hause. Wir heißen Alleinreisende, Gruppen von bis zu 10 Personen und alle willkommen, die Abenteuerlust mitbringen und anderen mit Respekt begegnen.

Check-out ist bis 10:00 Uhr

No worries. If you arrive after reception closes at 10.00 pm, you can use the check-in kiosk. Please come see us in the morning to get everything you’ll need during your stay.

How to get to this incredible hike🌸🌿🇨🇭
📍Oeschinensee, Switzerland
*Drive to the village called Kandersteg
*From Kandersteg, you can either hike or take the cable car from Kandersteg to Oeschinensee rodelbahn (CHF 40 tour/ retour p.p)
🥾From the top of the cable car station:
*Follow the path until you meet the first crossroad.
*At the crossroad, you can either keep going straight or go down to the lake. That’s a great option for families with kids.
*If you want to see the spectacular views in the video, take the path to the left. You will walk past a shed among other things.
*After walking for approximately 10-15 minutes on the left path, you’ll see a «portal» to your left. Through this portal, you can see a narrower and rocky path that goes upwards in the mountain. Take this path and follow this
*This path takes you around the lake with stunning views, and you will meet this viewpoint on the way.
*Hiking time from the cable station to this viewpoint is approximately 1.5 hours, depending on how many stops you make
*If you walk from Kandersteg, it will take around 3 hours to reach this viewpoint
*You can choose to continue and walk around the lake, or you can go back the same way you came from.

After a week of hiking, paragliding, and hostel parties, this quiet little corner of Brienz is exactly what the doctor ordered. Just you, a wooden bench, and a view that makes you realise why you packed your bags in the first place. Absolute peace. ✨🛶

Hello everyone!
We stayed at the famous Balmers Hostel in Interlaken, Switzerland.
The history of this place dates back to 1907, when a married couple, Frieda and Adolf Balmer, opened a small guesthouse for travelers. Over the years, it became a favorite destination for visitors from all over the world and is now considered one of the oldest and most famous privately owned hostels in Switzerland. More than a century later, the hostel is still managed by the Balmer family.
Balmers consists of several traditional Swiss chalet-style buildings. Between them, you’ll find a cozy courtyard, green gardens, and relaxing outdoor spaces. There are long communal tables, terraces, and plenty of places where travelers can meet, share stories, and connect with one another. Because of this, Balmers feels less like a typical hostel and more like a small international community.
Another highlight of the hostel is its large communal kitchen, where guests can prepare their own meals. The kitchen is fully equipped with stoves, cookware, refrigerators, and everything needed for cooking. It’s also a place where people from different parts of the world meet, exchange experiences, and make new friends.
The place that impressed me the most was the hammock room. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to capture it on video, so I’ll share a photo instead. It’s a small and cozy relaxation space inside the hostel where guests can read, unwind, or simply enjoy some quiet time. The room is open daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
Thanks to its unique atmosphere, rich history, and welcoming environment that brings people together, Balmers Hostel continues to hold a special place in the hearts of travelers from around the world.

If you’re looking to escape the heat, the middle of Lake Brienz is about as good as it gets. Glacial turquoise water, massive cliffs, and just the sound of your paddle. No high-speed engines, no rushing around—just proper alpine peace (and a decent workout for your arms, if we`re being honest). 🏔️✨
