Remember the Altitude
The Swiss Alps are one of the most beautiful places in the world and home to Olympic-class skiing. If you’re headed there remember that you’ll be at a high altitude and prepare accordingly. This means lots of sunscreens as you’ll burn more easily, even on cloudy days. Have plenty of water with you and keep an eye on the weather at all times. You’ll also want to take frequent breaks to avoid altitude sickness.
Go Easy on Cash
Despite what many assume, Switzerland is not a member of the European Union, so they have their own currency rather than the Euro. Convert a small amount of your cash into Swiss Francs rather than all of it, so you aren't stuck with any later. Major credit cards are accepted everywhere, but make sure you're aware of any foreign transaction fees before you swipe.
Don’t Eat the Chocolate
Yep, that’s right, we said don’t eat the chocolate, but let’s explain. Switzerland is known for its world-class chocolate but skip the touristy shops if you want some and join a chocolate workshop to get what the locals eat. You can also grab some real treats from the local grocery store. Not only are they much better quality but they’re also half the price.
