This has been my favourite hostel ever! I had the time of my life here, made so many friends and memories for life. A special shout out to Ivan, a member of the staff who I also consider a friend. Made the experience there even better and took some time to hang out and make sure I had everything I needed! The staff are super friendly and want to make sure that you have a great time. Another shout out to Dario for being a great person. Can’t wait to be back!! ❤️ 🇨🇭

Balmers Hostel, Interlaken
Check in for the vibe—it’s what Balmers does best. The atmosphere is energetic and social, with events happening every night. It’s definitely not the cheapest hostel, but it has everything you need.
The kitchen can get quite busy, so plan your meals accordingly. Our room was a bit small for the price, and while the linens seemed fresh, the duvet and pillows had visible stains, which was a letdown.
That said, the energy of the place made up for a lot. Still loved the live and would recommend it to anyone looking for a lively base in Interlaken.

This is the best hostel i've ever stayed in my life!
The staff was great. Friendly, caring and proactive. They made sure to always have free- fun activities for their guests that included activities around the Interlaken region and also at the hostel.
The housekeeping team makes an excellent work and the place is always clean.
I stayed at a 6-bed female bedroom and the beds were comfortable, you had enough space for secure storage and the shared bathrooms/showers were *always* clean.
The kitchen is amazing, you have everything you need to make the best meals and save money while being in Switzerland.
You can hang out almost everywhere @ the hostel and it's just a very nice place to stay.
Definitely would love to be back.

The reception staff is helpful. The building is made of wood, so it absorbs noise. The kitchen is spacious. Everyone usually washes their own dishes. The bathrooms are mostly frequented by young people between 18 and 25. The kitchen and bathrooms are cleaned regularly. Since these are mixed-gender rooms, there should be changing rooms. Changing in the shower is very uncomfortable. The pillows are very thin and uncomfortable. They are practically nonexistent. As with all hostels, snoring is a problem. If you snore, please stay in a private room, not a six-person room. There are iron cages instead of closets, and opening and closing them is noisy. They organize daily activities like picnics on the lake and parties, which is very pleasant.

I’ve backpacked across Europe 3 times and Balmers is by far the best hostel. I’ve stayed at Balmers twice and loved both of my experiences. The hostel is fun, clean, and cozy. There’s a great bar, places to hang out, and the rooms have a lot of space

I had a nice stay at the hostel. I booked a private room for my Pet Dog and me. The location is central, it is easy to reach from the train station. There are restaurants around to eat out. They have a big guest kitchen as well. The staff are friendly and accommodating. I would recommend them.

We had a great experience at Balmers Hostel during our time in Interlaken. Check-in was seamless, and a big shoutout to Joel, who was super helpful with local recommendations and transit information.
Since it was our first time staying there, Joel also gave us each a free bus pass for the duration of our stay and we used it every day.
The hostel itself is large and has a quaint, cozy charm, filled with cute trinkets and decorative touches that give it a really warm, welcoming atmosphere. There are plenty of common areas to relax or meet other travelers.
Overall, Balmers is a well-run, character-filled hostel with great service. We’d definitely recommend it for anyone visiting Interlaken!

Absolutely one of the best places I have stayed at. The staff are friendly and helpful with activities each night to make it easier to meet people. It also helps Interlaken is an amazing base to travel around from, with the area itself having enough activities and shops to get anything you need.
I stayed in a 6 bed female and the best part had to be the sink and mirror in the room. I found having a chair in the room so useful as well.
The shared spaces are thought out and provide a great opportunity to relax, work or meet new faces. The hostel has heaps to explore too, with signs around the town leading you there.
The laundry next door is not owned by Balmers but I’d get there as they open to avoid having to wait for the machine. Others will put items in if you aren’t there.

The sleep was comfortable and it was nice to see huge kitchens, rather than small ones where people squeeze and feel uncomfortable about using the stoves. There were many shower rooms as well. Good that there was a key card, and a very nice lounge area. I like this hostel

Balmers is always worth a visit. The reception is super friendly and they help you with any questions or concerns. The communal kitchen is very spacious and very well equipped. The only thing we were out of was the spices and salt, but there's a Coop around the corner. We stayed together in a private room for 8 people. The space was well-equipped. It has cable strips for various USB ports. There are also boxes in the room for storing personal belongings. Outside in the garden and in the common areas, there's more than enough space to relax and spend time together. We'll be back :)
