It's an amazing experience to stay at Balmer's. The rooms are very cozy and well maintained. Staff in reception are very welcoming and friendly.

Breakfast options are very good and very fresh.

Definitely will consider staying here during next visit.

This is an attraction in itself. Amazing history and architecture how this has been built on throught the years. Staff is extremely helpful. Good breakfast. Clean rooms and bathroom.

First of all...Ilsa rules! Thanks, Ilsa! Lots of character, self-catering facilities ( though the kitchen is closed a little early for me), and even a hot tub. Floors are creaky wood ( which I don't personally mind), and the activities rooms can't be beat. The owner, Eric even drops in to give you a friendly word. I'd come back, though the 8-Euro breakfast could be a little more substantial.

plenty of common area spaces with guitar and piano ping pong and other social games. Own bar and disco. though not in the city center u have there irish and a local pub, thai food and pizza/kebab just next doors plus supermarket 2 mins walk. kitchen closes at 22 but fridge is outside so u can eat your food or grab a cold beer at any time. A plus is that u r allowed to drink yr own alcool though they sell it at the reception and at the bar. I felt like a real backpacker schould, free to choose , easy like at home. There are two showers aeras and in one of them hot water never runs out so it is enough to know where to go in case many people using showers. i missed only the personal power point by the bed. I think the hostel should implement the quality of acces to power points.

Perfect place to stay in Interlaken. Good crowd. Not rating 5 because of an odd experience- Had couple of nights stay, left some clothes on my bed on second day morning and it was missing when I came back that night. Otherwisw good, have to pay 2CHF for towel and 8CHF for breakfast.

The Experience at Balmers Herberge was really amazing. It was hard to locate from Interlaken East. The rooms were much cheaper as well as the environment was really fantastic. They have Music Instruments as well as Indoor Games such as Pool Table etc. The Staff was also friendly and helped me out.

Great service, great location, and beautiful architecture and interior decoration.

This is very good place to stay when you are a backpacker but it bit expensive.

A must stay if your in Interlaken and want to have some fun!

I have between to Balmers twice now and I absolutely love it. The staff are so helpful and friendly. The location is perfect. Breakfast could be open longer. The fridge organisation is not great. Aside from those two points Balmers is one of the best hostels I have ever visited.

1st we tried a must eat cheese fondue here. Overall is a good experience. Friendly staff

Excellent hostel, great amenities, only negative was the bald Aussie dude in the crocs at check-in, who was nowhere to be seen for 20 minutes when we tried to check in. Very unfriendly and rude. As for the other staff they were very welcoming, friendly, and offered great recommendations about the area. Overall an incredible stay apart from that 1 negative experience. Would definitely reccomend this hostel

Super cool hostel and vibe. everyone was extremely friendly and the hostel has everything you could need!

We arrived at Balmers around 9pm and had beers and food straight away! Food was very good and satisfying and staff were very helpful and friendly for all the time we stayed there.

They give you a free pass to use the buses for free in Interlaken and to get a discount on the railcar that goes to Harder Kulm (top point of Interlaken).

Rooms are big enough but beds are creaky and power outlets are far from beds and not always available because the adaptors are too big and take a lot of space.

There are very few toilets.

Facilities are clean and there are few spaces to socialize even if it's not easy because many travellers are in big groups.
There's a bar, a little garden with hammocks, a giant chess board and a jacuzzi, outside. Three pianos and many comfortable couches, inside. And a club downstaitrs.

There's a free and very simple breakfast served in the morning (coffee is quite good!).
Is well located, not far from the city centre and connected with means of transport.

The hostel is always quite busy with people coming and going and sometimes people forget that there are other people sleeping at night.

I had a very fun stay and I'd probably book here again in the future!

P.S. The hostel's bar close around 10pm, you can always move to the Barracuda from the other side of the street and enjoy a beer until late.
They also have a jam session where people meet to play together some nights!

This hostel is awesome! It has a very cozy feel to it, and has lots of space to hang out, play games, and meet people. There are hammocks outside and a very nice cat that comes around looking for pets. :)

The only issue was that there are no lockers in the rooms, you have to rent out lockers and the prices are ridiculous.

The staff is super friendly and accommodating! The place is very clean w amenities I have never seen in a hostel before, such as, a hammock room, a jacuzzi, a bar, and a club! You even get a free pass to use the buses for free and to get a discount on the venicular up to the top of interlaken! I would recommend this place to anyone!

Location is very good, place is not hygienic! Worth paying, free parking facility.

This hostel was very nice in terms of the atmosphere and amenities offered. It was disappointing to get there though and realize that the club wouldn't open until June 1st due to rennovations (not sure if we missed this posting on their website or what). The staff working at the front desk was also not especially welcoming or helpful at all when we arrived. When we arrived and simply asked one of the workers where to go in town for food, he told us "look, I'm about to get off right now, just ask my partner when he's available." Those are the types of remarks and attitude that we got several times over the course of our stay.

the hostel is nice and cute, the breakfast is well served, the price is nice for travelers, the staff is very nice and the showers are not the best but they're remaking them, highly recommend.

The place was nice and cozy. Club was closed but we had no idea of knowing which was a disappointment. Felt the vibe may have been different if it was open.

Cooles Hostel

I had greatly enjoyed my stay at Balmers. The place is so big and so full of fun. They have musical instruments for the ones who can play, a big kitchen, laundry, an ATM, a night club (underground), cozy bunk beds, and beautiful views. A bus stop is right outside the hostel.
Plus, the staff is so helpful.
If I ever go back to Interlaken, I'm definitely staying at this place.

Very fun and quirky hostel! We've been twice now and enjoyed it both times. It has a good and simple breakfast included in the overnight price. And it is easily the cheapest hostel that we've encountered in Switzerland!! Showers were a bit cold, but everyone seemed to be showering at the same time as me (so, choose a less popular time and you should be fine), but it eventually warmed up. Towels not included, but beds were comfortable enough! There is parking available about 1km from the hostel. Overall, we suggest Balmers to anyone we hear is going near Interlaken!!

Really great hostel. Provides a great breakfast really fast wifi and close to the bus stop to get the trains to two of the nearby towns which are all really gorgeous.

The staff is really friendly and the showers are amazing for a hostel!

The most famous hostel of Interlaken. Choosing this place to stay in Interlaken is a no-brainer. It's a lively place where you'll get to meet a lot of people. There are a lot of things to do within the hostel, let alone good restaurants and bars present nearby.
Rooms may be a bit small but everything else is too good to make up for it

Perfect spot close to pubs & restaurants, staff are super friendly & helpful sharing their knowledge of the area. Clean & Cosy rooms, great common areas. We will be back for sure!

I highly recommend this hostel. The price for stay is reasonably affordable. The staff are helpful and very knowledgeable about Interlaken. Thera are recreational activities for free and thE breakfast is ok for the price that I paid.
