Biking
Whether mountain biking or road cycling, you will be busy trying to explore just part of what this area has to offer. Road cyclers can enjoy almost seamless road conditions, minimal traffic and considerate drivers while rolling along through the mountain scenery. Similarly, mountain trails and fire roads are well marked, mapped and maintained. The only thing you really need to worry about is trying to bite off more than you can chew!
If you arrive in Interlaken without a bicycle, check out Balmer’s for hourly or daily bike rental. All bikes are well maintained and regularly serviced.
A few of the popular routes for road cyclists are riding around the Brienz or Thun lakes, climbing the Grindelwald (Grosse Scheidegg) pass or the more extreme three passes ride. For more information just ask Balmer’s reception.
Mountain bikers can explore the track along the Lütschine river to Lauterbrunnen, follow the steep track/road up to Saxeten or try something a bit more intensive take your bike on a gondola ride up into the mountain areas of Kleine Schidegg or Murren.
