Ice climbing is a fascinating sport that requires proper equipment and careful technique. With valuable training and guidance from a qualified mountain guide, you can experience this unique sport in a safe way and see if climbing frozen waterfalls is the right winter activity for you. If you’re hooked after our taster course, our basic skills ice climbing course will take you to the next level.

This is an all-day adventure, with a scenic drive up to the Susten Pass through some of the most dramatic scenery in Switzerland! With your warm gear, boots, crampons, gaiters, helmet, backpack, ice aces and technical gear (all provided), you will take a short hike up to the edge of the glacier, where the adventure really begins. Roped together for safety, you will be led out across the glacier to a suitable crevasse, where the ice climbing begins! For those concerned about the ice-climbing component, this trip can also be booked as a glacier hike.

Full instruction will be given by a qualified Swiss UIAGM mountain guide. You do not need to be a bodybuilder to climb ice, only a great sense of adventure and an appreciation of the spectacular alpine scenery!
